Phan Dang Hoang Shines at Milan Fashion Week
Phan Dang Hoang, a Vietnamese fashion designer, made a significant impact at Milan Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2025. He presented his latest collection titled “Ceramics” at the illustrious Royal Palace of Milan, merging traditional Eastern art influences with modern Western fashion techniques.
The “Ceramics” collection comprises 40 unique pieces that reinterpret the image of Vietnamese women from a century ago. Hoang offers a contemporary perspective while honoring traditional values, showcasing the elegance and strength of Vietnamese women throughout history.
Inspired by the silk paintings of Nguyen Phan Chanh, the collection features soft color schemes and fluid shapes. It utilizes fabrics such as chiffon, organza, and crepe to convey the delicate feel of silk art, while also incorporating sturdier materials like denim, leather, and cotton to represent the modern woman’s resilience and adaptability.
Hoang incorporates colors and textures reminiscent of Vietnamese artistry, using earthy browns, olive greens, and vibrant reds. The designs are updated with contemporary elements like bold cut-outs and detailed knots, creating a harmonious balance between classic and modern aesthetics.
Born in 2000, Phan Dang Hoang graduated from the esteemed Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. He initially garnered global attention in 2022 when his collection featured at the Afro Fall/Winter Fashion Week, highlighted in Vogue Italy. His subsequent collection “Sculpture” in 2023 further solidified his reputation at Milan Fashion Week.
Recently recognized in Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 list for the Arts, Hoang is dedicated to innovating in the fashion industry by fusing his Vietnamese roots with international trends and methodologies.
