PM Pham Minh Chinh leads new national anti-wastefulness steering committee

On December 17, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh initiated the formation of the Anti-Wastefulness Steering Committee, with himself appointed as the Head.

The committee will have Deputy Heads, including:

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc (Permanent Deputy Head)
Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang
Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong

The committee’s membership features various ministers and leaders of agencies equivalent to ministries, covering sectors such as:

National Defense, Public Security, Construction, Transport, Planning and Investment, Home Affairs, State Bank of Vietnam, Government Office, Justice, Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment, Information and Communications, Agriculture and Rural Development, Science and Technology, Culture, Sports and Tourism, Education and Training, Health, Labor-Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Committee for Ethnic Affairs.

Furthermore, the committee comprises the Chairman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises and the Chairpersons of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committees.

This Steering Committee functions as an inter-agency body aimed at aiding the Prime Minister in directing and coordinating essential, multi-sectoral activities related to fighting waste.

It is also tasked with providing counsel to the Prime Minister on strategies, policies, and measures necessary for executing the national anti-wastefulness strategy and the Government’s overall program aimed at promoting thrift and curbing wasteful practices, alongside other major projects to safeguard economic resources from misuse.

The Ministry of Finance will act as the committee’s primary support agency.
