Ojo Adewunmi, a 25-year-old man, has been taken into custody by the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps on charges of trying to sexually assault a 19-year-old girl.
Abiodun Adeleye, the Head of Communications for Ekiti Amotekun, made this known in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Adeleye reported that the suspect was caught on Tuesday in Ilawe Ekiti by operatives from the local government command while he was allegedly attempting to carry out the assault.
“According to the Amotekun officers, the suspect had confined the victim indoors in an effort to assault her. However, his actions were interrupted by the arrival of the operatives,” the statement detailed.
“The victim recounted her distressing experience, sharing her feelings of powerlessness and despair as she screamed for help until the officers arrived.”
The suspect is now in the custody of the Ilawe Ekiti Police Division awaiting further investigation and potential legal action.
