Well-known entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu aka Cubana Chief Priest, has resolved his legal matters with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
As part of the agreement, he handed over N10 million to the Federal Government and committed to good conduct.
The resolution follows charges by the EFCC against the socialite for reportedly mishandling the Nigerian currency.
An out-of-court settlement was reached and approved by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Under the agreement, Cubana Chief Priest will conduct awareness campaigns and advocate against currency abuse and other financial crimes.
He will be required to share videos on his social media platforms every two months, promoting the proper use of the Nigerian currency and denouncing related offenses.
The settlement, signed by both parties and endorsed by Justice Kehinde Ogundare, was acknowledged in court on Tuesday by EFCC’s representative Bilkisu Buhari-Bala and the defendant’s lawyer Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN).
Ojukwu highlighted his client’s regret and assured that Cubana Chief Priest would chart a new course going forward.
As part of the agreement, the charges will be dropped, and Cubana Chief Priest will surrender N10 million to the federal revenue pool.
Cubana Chief Priest is also required by the settlement, in compliance with the EFCC Establishment Act of 2004, to engage in extensive education and advocacy against the mishandling of coins and notes issued under the CBN Act as legitimate currency.
