In Anambra State, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are voicing their strong disapproval of President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint Bianca Ojukwu as a minister-designate, labeling the move as anti-party behavior.

They raised concerns about the choice to appoint Bianca, a member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Board of Trustees, without prior discussions with APC members.

During a crucial gathering of party officials in Awka on Thursday, October 24, the APC representatives considered the appointment a serious breach of loyalty that could hurt member morale.

High Chief Bunty Onuigbo, who serves as the South East Zonal Secretary of APC and is part of the APC Elders Forum in Anambra, articulated the stakeholders’ frustrations, stating: “By enabling figures from opposing political groups, this action undermines the principles of party loyalty. It’s clearly detrimental.

He also raised queries regarding the consequences of such an appointment, asking, “Is the President indirectly encouraging a mass exodus of our members to APGA in Anambra? Is he unwittingly aligning with APGA?

Onuigbo remarked that the occurrence is both “unprecedented and deeply disheartening,” noting that leadership in Abuja appears to bolster rival parties at a cost to the APC’s welfare.

Among the seven ministers named on Wednesday, October 23, Bianca Ojukwu’s appointment has gained widespread attention, sparking significant discussions among Nigerians on social media platforms.
