Appeal Court Ruling on Baba Ijesha’s Conviction

Appeal Court Upholds Baba Ijeshas 5 Year Conviction (via Primetweets)
The actor Baba Ijesha’s 5-year jail term has been affirmed by the Court of Appeal in Lagos.

The sentencing by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo in July 2022 was for the sexual assault of a minor.

Baba Ijesha challenged the verdict with the help of his lawyer, Kayode Olabiran.

Justice Folashade Ojo delivered the recent ruling, overturning the conviction related to incidents from 2013-2014 due to hearsay evidence but upholding the conviction for the April 2021 assault based on credible testimonies and the actor’s confession during police investigations.

The court maintained the 5-year sentence for indecent treatment of a child and added a 3-year sentence for sexual assault, with both terms to be served simultaneously.
