The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has raised concerns over the recent petrol price hike, cautioning the federal government against undermining Nigerians.
Yerima Shettima, the President General of the forum, criticized the government for being out of touch with the prevailing circumstances, especially in light of their previous assurances to improve the quality of life for citizens.
Shettima highlighted the growing poverty and hunger in the nation, noting that the increment in petrol price exacerbates the plight of the people. He emphasized the inadequacy of the minimum wage compared to the skyrocketing cost of living.
He called on the government to reconsider its approach and address the mounting challenges faced by Nigerians, emphasizing the need for tangible improvements in the citizens’ standard of living.
Shettima urged the government to fulfill its core mandate of ensuring the welfare of the people and implementing policies that enhance the well-being of Nigerians.
He warned that failure to address these pressing issues could incite unrest among the populace, urging prompt action to prevent a potential backlash from a disgruntled and hungry population.
