The Arewa Indigenous Obidients Forum has declared its support for Peter Obi to become Nigeria’s next President in 2027, highlighting the prevailing hardships and challenges faced in the nation.
The Coordinator of the Forum, Engineer Alkassim Awwal, spoke at a press conference in Kano, emphasizing their aim to secure Peter Obi’s presidential candidacy in the upcoming election.
Expressing dismay at the widespread suffering, poverty, and uncertainty experienced by Nigerians, the Forum acknowledged their collective responsibility for the country’s current state.
Engineer Awwal remarked on Peter Obi’s past appeals for attention to his vision, admitting that they initially overlooked his message as typical political rhetoric. However, they now recognize the importance of his proposed economic reforms and national revitalization.
While acknowledging the escalating poverty and hardship faced by ordinary citizens, the Forum criticized the government’s focus on extravagant ceremonies and luxury purchases while essential needs remain unmet.
In preparation for the 2027 election, the Forum plans to mobilize support from various regions across the North and beyond, endorsing Peter Obi as a competent and visionary leader with a proven track record in politics and public service.
Emphasizing values of integrity, competence, and inclusivity, Arewa Indigenous Obidients Forum aims to promote unity, cooperation, and collective action in backing their chosen candidate for the presidency.
As Peter Obi celebrates his 63rd birthday, the Forum extends warm wishes and felicitations to the former Anambra State governor.
