EFCC’s Statement on Verydarkman’s Arrest
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently announced the arrest of the well-known critic, Verydarkman, in connection with alleged financial offenses.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday, the EFCC indicated that Verydarkman was taken into custody due to accusations of financial misconduct lodged against him.
Furthermore, the Commission mentioned that they had sent numerous invitations for him to cooperate, all of which he neglected.
The statement elaborated:
“Regarding Martins Innocent Otse
As part of its commitment to addressing financial crimes, the EFCC invited Martins Innocent Otse due to multiple petitions concerning various allegations of financial wrongdoings against him.
Despite repeated invitations sent to his known locations and communication channels, he chose not to respond. The allegations are serious and warrant the EFCC’s attention.
While the Commission acknowledges the public’s criticism of its work from the suspect, it clarifies that his arrest was not influenced by these comments. Any such issues will be dealt with by the appropriate authorities.
The EFCC possesses the legal authority to detain Otse as part of its investigation, having secured the necessary Remand Order. He is eligible for administrative bail, which will be granted once he meets all stipulated conditions.
The EFCC appreciates the public’s keen interest in its operations. The passion and responses to its actions are valued; however, doubts regarding its intentions should cease. The EFCC must be allowed to perform its duties impartially. Charges will follow once the investigation is complete.”
