Media Personality Claims Asake Has Surpassed Olamide
A well-known Nigerian media personality, Big Vic, stated that the globally acclaimed singer, Asake, has now exceeded the popular rapper and YBNL Nation CEO, Olamide.
During a recent episode of the ‘Ctdamongblacks’ podcast, he mentioned, “Asake is bigger than Olamide right now. I’m not referring to lifetime achievements but the current moment. Currently, in terms of collaborations, connections, and sold-out shows, Asake stands out.“
“Olamide could have chosen not to invest heavily in Asake, but he foresaw the benefits that would come with Asake’s success.”
Big Vic pointed out that artists of Southeastern origin are not supporting their fellow artists to succeed in the music industry as much as their counterparts from the Southwest, possibly due to fear of being overshadowed.
He urged Igbo artists to follow the example of Yoruba artists and invest more in nurturing emerging talents from their region.

Asake’s Journey:
Prior to joining YBNL Nation in February 2022, Asake revealed that he had been pleading with Olamide for about two years before being signed to the record label. In that same month, he released his debut extended play titled ‘Ololade,’ which included his breakout track “Omo Ope” featuring Olamide, and the single “Sungba.”
