The Delta State Police have refuted claims regarding a suicide bombing incident in Sapele.
During a phone interview with The Nation on Wednesday afternoon, Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe explained that the reports concerning an explosion in the area were greatly exaggerated, stemming from a minor event.
On Tuesday evening, rumors of a supposed suicide bombing along Mission Road in Sapele created widespread alarm among locals and residents of surrounding towns.
Allegations suggested that body parts were scattered across the site of the incident, leading to the hospitalization of several individuals due to injuries.
However, the police spokesperson clarified that the event was so trivial that it had not garnered the police’s attention until media claims began circulating.
As he was preparing for a live broadcast, the PPRO remarked, “There was no bomb blast in Sapele. It’s just an unnecessary exaggeration. It was just something mild, not bomb. There was no casualty.”
