Kyari Kur, also known as Henry, who had escaped from a correctional facility during the flooding crisis in Maiduguri, has been taken back into custody by the Borno State Police.
ASP Nahun Kenneth Daso disclosed the news in a statement, explaining that the 28-year-old was apprehended in Gubio town following reliable information received.
“Kur was serving time for crimes related to conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri when he escaped as a result of the severe flooding incident in September 2024 that damaged the prison infrastructure,” the spokesperson noted.
“On October 10, 2024, law enforcement received a credible report that Kur was seen in Gubio town, and immediate action led to his arrest,” he continued.
“The convict has undergone profiling and will be returned to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further proceedings.”
The Commissioner of Police for the State, CP Mohammed Lawal Yusufu, emphasized the department’s dedication to public safety and justice.
“We thank the community for their support and encourage them to keep sharing timely information,” CP Yusufu stated.
