Auwalu Aminu, a 24-year-old inmate also known as Auwalu Kirkir, has been captured again after escaping from a correctional facility due to heavy flooding in Maiduguri.
According to the police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the arrest occurred in Banki town based on reliable information received.
“Auwalu Aminu had been serving a sentence for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri when he escaped during the floods that damaged the facility’s fence in September 2024,” the statement explained.
“On October 16, 2024, the police received credible intelligence indicating Auwalu Kirkir’s presence in Banki town.
“Officers quickly acted on this information and secured the apprehension of Auwalu Aminu.”
“The convict is now being profiled and will be transferred back to the Nigerian Correctional Service for further processing.
