Evacuation Prior to Collapse: Lagos Building Incident
The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced that a building which collapsed today, October 14, in the Orile area of Lagos had been evacuated two weeks earlier and was slated for demolition.
According to Omotoso, there were no injuries reported during the collapse. He stated, “A distressed storey building already marked for demolition has collapsed in Orile-Iganmu.”
Thanks to the prior evacuation, there were no casualties. Emergency teams, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Fire Service, Building Control Agency (LASBCA), and the Police, are present to prevent any further incidents.
