Tragedy struck in Kano State as a one-storey building collapsed in the Kuntau area of Gwale Local Government Area, reportedly leading to the fear of eight fatalities.
The incident occurred during a downpour early on Friday morning while workers were busy at the construction site.
Reports indicated that about 15 people, including the owner, construction labourers, and passersby, sought refuge in the building to shield themselves from the morning rain.
Upon receiving news of the collapse, the wife of Sharu rushed to the scene, seeking help, while neighbours and onlookers joined hands to assist those trapped in the rubble.
Seven individuals were swiftly transported to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where unfortunately one person passed away en route.
Current information suggests that the remaining victims are undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
