Burna Boy’s Reaction to Miss South Africa Pageantry
Burna Boy, the renowned Nigerian singer, recently took a jab at South Africans in light of a white South African woman winning the Miss South Africa pageant. This victory came after Chidinma Vanessa Adetshina withdrew amidst controversy.
The new Miss South Africa is Mia Le Roux, a model from Free State. She was crowned at the Sun Bet Arena in Pretoria. Notably, Mia is the first Miss SA winner who is deaf and has a cochlear implant. She is set to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 competition in Mexico with this unique distinction.
As part of her accolades, Mia Le Roux received the Mowana crown, a fully furnished apartment, a Mercedes Benz, R1 million, and other prizes.
Burna Boy’s response to the news was a simple “So after all that” accompanied by laughter emojis.
This reaction came about following Chidinma Adetshina’s withdrawal from the pageant. Chidinma, a 23-year-old law student claiming Nigerian-South African heritage, faced doubts about her nationality from some South Africans, leading to her exit from the competition. This sparked a probe by SA Home Affairs, revealing questionable discrepancies in Chidinma’s background.

Chidinma Adetshina’s withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant stirred a debate on social media about her citizenship status. Concerns were raised about her eligibility, given the mixed background she claimed. This prompted an investigation by SA Home Affairs, uncovering potential identity issues regarding Chidinma’s heritage.
The ensuing revelation led to Chidinma voluntarily stepping back from the competition and adjusting the course of the pageant. Mia Le Roux emerged as the eventual winner, achieving a significant milestone as she embraces her title and unique representation in the Miss SA platform.
