Rev. Fr Michael Abang Obi, a priest from the Catholic Church, had a close brush with death.
He survived a car explosion that took place in the Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Rev. Obi, who leads St Joseph de Worker Parish in Bansara and acts as Vicar for Priests in the Catholic Diocese of Ogoja, experienced this frightening event on New Year’s Eve.
While out, he paused to assist a Reverend Sister and her group by providing directions.
Recalling the harrowing moment of his escape, Rev. Obi explained that the explosion occurred just as he was getting back into his vehicle.
“I had just attended a wedding at a nearby parish and was returning to my own parish when I noticed a Reverend Sister with her group gathering firewood in the school area,” he shared.
“I decided to stop and guide them to a better spot for firewood.”
“However, as I re-entered my car and was preparing to leave, the explosion struck. I was fortunate to have the door unlatched, allowing me to escape unharmed. All thanks to God,” he recounted.
