The Lagos State division of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is currently facing turmoil as internal conflicts arise among members.
Reports indicate that there is a leadership dispute within the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the party.
According to The Sun newspaper, the party’s chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, was assaulted at the party’s headquarters in Acme, Ogba, Ikeja.
Allegedly, members from Alimosho Local Government, who were dissatisfied with Ojelabi’s handling of the crisis in their area, attacked him at the secretariat.
The protesters accused Ojelabi of favoritism and were on the verge of physically harming him before the intervention of the police, who rescued the chairman.
In a widely circulated video, enraged members seized the chairman’s hat and attempted to assault him, but were stopped by the prompt arrival of law enforcement officers.
It was reported that the protesters, gathering at the secretariat, took action after Ojelabi rejected their proposals for resolving the leadership problems in the Alimosho chapter of the party.
The chairman declined their demands, insisting that the current public officials must be present at a meeting to discuss their suggestions and recommendations for APC in Alimosho.
