The police in Niger State announced the arrest of a suspect involved in a recent kidnapping case in the Kontagora Local Government Area.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, Isyaka, along with other gang members, invaded the aforementioned village, resulting in a fatal shooting and the abduction of two individuals.
Isyaka was apprehended after he went to visit one of the victims at their home, where he was recognized as one of the kidnappers.
“On January 17, 2025, around 10 AM, the officers from ‘A’ Div Kontagora apprehended Nasiru Isyaka of Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village in connection with the kidnapping that took place on December 29, 2024,” the report stated.
“The incident involved armed attackers who entered the village, killed one individual, and abducted two others, who were later freed through collective security efforts.
“During initial investigations, Isyaka was identified as a kidnapper when he visited one of the victims at home.
“Authorities recovered a homemade shotgun from him, and he admitted his involvement in the crime.
“He has been transferred to the police headquarters in Minna for further investigation and legal proceedings.
“Efforts to apprehend the remaining gang members are currently underway.”
