Well-known actor Patrick Doyle has criticized the popular phrase “I am a Chosen,” which is often used by followers of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries.

According to him, this expression fails to mention or allude to faith in Jesus Christ, instead, it glorifies the church’s founder, Pastor Lazarus Muoka.

Doyle’s comments come amidst a social media uproar regarding recent viral testimonies from the church.

In a statement on his Facebook, he labeled the phrase as “nonsensical,” asserting that it does not align with Christian teachings.

“The phrase ‘I am a Chosen’ from the group called ‘Chosen’ should not be associated with the Body of Christ.

“When members chant this phrase, they don’t have Jesus in their thoughts. Their worship is clearly directed at a man, their General Overseer. The phrase entirely sidesteps any mention of Jesus.

“To suggest that this nonsensical expression gives honor to our Savior, Jesus Christ, is to undermine our beliefs.

“Those who are creating content around this phrase are not disparaging the Church of God but rather the sect and its leader.”

Additionally, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has also criticized a viral testimony from a church member who claimed that “an angel” helped her during an examination.
