Tijani Kabiru, a Customs officer in his late 40s, tragically lost his life along with his wife and four of their children in a devastating fire that occurred in their home.

Early in the morning on December 2, approximately at 2 am, a fire broke out at the Kabiru family’s residence located in the Olowopoku area of Ede, Osun State, resulting in the loss of the entire family, except for one child.

According to reports, the fire was believed to have started from an electrical issue linked to the solar panel installed on the roof of the house. Witnesses revealed that the fire ignited around 2:09 am.

A 13-year-old child, who was awake reading at the time, noticed the flames and rushed to alert his father. However, the family members were already incapacitated from smoke inhalation. The child fled the home to seek assistance.

Access to the house was challenging for the neighbors due to security features such as electric barbed wire and robust doors. Emergency services were contacted around 3:10 am, but by the time they arrived, it was too late to save Tijani, his wife, and their four children, as they had all succumbed to the fire.
