Eedris Abdulkareem, a controversial Nigerian musician, has suggested a reason for the Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka’s lack of criticism towards President Bola Tinubu.
Abdulkareem alleged that Soyinka’s silence in the face of the country’s challenges was due to his personal relationship with the president.
He expressed disappointment in Soyinka, known for his outspoken critiques of past administrations, for not being vocal in the current government’s era.
“He [Wole Soyinka] has been very quiet lately. I know he has a good relationship with Tinubu so we know why,” Abdulkareem revealed in an interview with SRTV.
When questioned about his silence regarding the current state of affairs in the country, Prof. Wole Soyinka had previously mentioned that it was too early to pass judgment on President Tinubu’s leadership, promising to evaluate it after a year in office.
Despite President Tinubu’s administration being a year old for almost a month now, Soyinka is yet to fulfill his pledge of assessing the government’s performance.
