Following an incident where two officers of the EFCC were seen assaulting a female staff member at a hotel in Lagos, the Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered a thorough investigation by a disciplinary panel.
The officers were filmed in a video showing them assaulting the hotel staff during an operation on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Olukoyede sanctioned the arrest of the officers and required them to face a joint Disciplinary Team consisting of the APDC and the Department of Ethics and Integrity.
They are scheduled to appear before the panel on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the EFCC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. The panel will examine the officers’ case and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.
Olukoyede emphasized that every effort would be made to hold the officers accountable for their unprofessional behavior.
Earlier reports revealed that the EFCC officials, not in uniform, forcefully entered a hotel room. CCTV footage captured one officer slapping a woman, believed to be a hotel employee, and instructing her to leave the room.
This incident was documented on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
