Nigerian human rights attorney, Inibehe Effiong, has criticized the Presidency for promoting the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, through its official X social media account for the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial elections.
Effiong accused the APC of undermining various institutions within the country.
This criticism follows a Saturday night post by the Presidency on its official X account, which featured Vice President Kashim Shettima urging residents of Edo State to support Okpebholo for a more effective governance.

The post further claimed that the state would see positive changes with greater federal funds.
Effiong, known for his advocacy in public interest law, denounced the usage of official governmental channels for political campaigning, labeling it a serious misconduct.
He referred to the situation as a blatant example of state capture.
Effiong remarked: “This is despicable but not surprising; the APC has tarnished every institution in this country.
“Utilizing official government accounts for political purposes is unacceptable. This is state capture in its clearest form.”
