During an international anti-corruption and climate change conference in Abuja, Femi Falana criticized the Tinubu-led government for accusing #Endbadgovernance protesters of treason.
The Federal Government decided to bring 10 protest leaders and organizers to the Federal High Court in Abuja to face charges related to the August 1st to 10th, 2024 protests.
The accused individuals, including Michael Adaramoye, Adeyemi Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, and others, pleaded not guilty to charges like treason and disturbing national peace.
The protests aimed to demand accountability and reforms within Nigeria’s governance system.
Falana raised concerns about the misuse of treason charges against protesting citizens and assured the public that he would address the issue.
He stated that he has dealt with similar cases before and would advise the government, specifically President Bola Tinubu, to drop the charges.
Falana emphasized that treason charges should not be taken lightly and mentioned his previous success in defending individuals against such accusations.
