Manchester United will be appointing a manager with a “track record in winning” if they appoint Jose Mourinho, according to Rio Ferdinand. The former United defender admitted that the Portuguese’s experience makes him less of a risk than Ryan Giggs, another candidate to replace Louis van Gaal.Ferdinand compared the two in an interview with NDTV and revealed Giggs’ long-term relationship with United makes him a worthwhile prospect.
The 37-year-old said: “Jose Mourinho’s name is getting mentioned. If you want someone who’s got a career track record in winning in the Premier League and various other countries, then he’s that guy.”But if you want someone who understands the philosophy, who’s respectful of the philosophy, who identifies with the fans, knows the place inside out, whose going to be a bigger risk, then Ryan Giggs is that guy.”
