Gbenga Makanjuola, the former Deputy Chief of Staff to Bukola Saraki, the prior Senate President, has tendered his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, as per a letter dated July 30, addressed to the ward chairman in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State.
Also included in the correspondence were copies to the local government chairman and state chairman of the PDP. Makanjuola, a two-time member of the House of Representatives and a trusted associate of Bukola Saraki, served as the Deputy Governorship candidate for the PDP in both 2019 and 2023.
Despite his departure from the party, no explanation was provided for his decision nor any indication of a possible new political affiliation.
Furthermore, Makanjuola was recently absolved of charges amounting to N3.5 billion in fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
