Abia Onyike Joins APC, Leaving PDP
Abia Onyike, the former Commissioner from Ebonyi State, has officially switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Onyike previously held the role of Special Adviser on Media Relations during Sam Egwu’s governorship and served as the Commissioner for Information under Martin Elechi.
At a gathering in Owutu Edda Ward, located in Edda Local Government Area, he declared his departure from the PDP, a party that had supported him through his political journey. This announcement took place on Wednesday.
In a statement released on Thursday, Onyike indicated that his shift to the APC was motivated by what he sees as Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s commitment to fostering good governance.
He mentioned, “My choice to join the APC is driven by the need to build a strong support network for Governor Nwifuru, who is focused on reinstating good governance and promoting an inclusive political climate in Ebonyi State.
“Politics is local, and we are guided by our developmental needs in the state. I am aligning with like-minded individuals to maintain and strengthen the current peaceful environment under Governor Nwifuru’s leadership.”
The APC Chairman in Owutu Edda Ward, Mr. Oko Ogbuagu, expressed delight in welcoming Onyike, stating, “Onyike is a man of experience and a true representation of the people. His joining us will significantly boost our prospects in upcoming elections.
