In the early hours of Thursday, Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (retd.), the former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, was taken hostage by bandits in Tsiga village, located in Katsina State’s Bakori Local Government Area.
The kidnapping occurred during a violent attack on the village while residents were still sleeping.
During this raid, one person lost their life, and at least nine others were seized, alongside the theft of various valuable items from multiple homes.
Reports from witnesses, as mentioned by Punch, detail that the bandits invaded the area around 12:30 a.m., firing shots wildly to create panic and suppress any attempts at defense by the locals.
Attempts to get more information from the public relations officer of the Katsina State Police, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, were not fruitful, as he replied via text message that he was currently unable to speak.
Authorities are expected to initiate an investigation and possibly a rescue operation to locate and retrieve those who have been kidnapped.
