The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has disclosed some concerning information.

He revealed that a large quantity of the illegal firearms circulating in Nigeria was once owned by the Federal Government.

This statement was made during an event where arms were destroyed by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja.

Ribadu pointed out that these weapons fell into the hands of non-state actors because of corrupt practices within security agencies.

He criticized security officers who are complicit in supplying weapons to terrorists, bandits, and other illegal groups.

Ribadu emphasized the government’s commitment to taking all necessary actions to enhance the nation’s security.
