Ganduje’s Legal Battles: Ongoing Prosecution for Alleged Bribery and Public Fund Mismanagement

Abdullahi Ganduje, the ex-governor of Kano State and current Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is under scrutiny for accusations related to bribery, misuse, and misallocation of public resources.

This information was shared by Muhuyi Rimingado, the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC).

In a recent appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Rimingado confirmed that the legal proceedings against Ganduje will continue.

When questioned about the persistence of the case following the former governor’s recent arrest, Rimingado assured, “Yes, we are prosecuting him in person.” He elaborated, “Our investigation began in 2021. I faced numerous challenges like arrest and intimidation, but I resumed after returning. This is not a personal vendetta.”

A hearing at the Kano State High Court concerning preliminary objections has been postponed to February 13, 2025. The Kano State Government has filed an eight-count accusation against Ganduje, involving bribery, mismanagement, and misappropriation of what could amount to billions of naira.

Others implicated in these allegations alongside Ganduje include his wife, Hafsat Umar, as well as Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, and several companies like Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.

In a related update, President Bola Tinubu recently appointed Ganduje as the chairman of the board for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
