On the evening of December 10, 2024, the German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, arrived in Nigeria for an official state visit that will span until December 12.
Upon his arrival, he was greeted at the presidential area of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Throughout his stay, Steinmeier plans to hold talks with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Alieu Omar Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission.
His schedule includes a trip to Lagos where he will meet with business leaders, visit a startup innovation center, and engage with key figures in Nigeria’s cultural and civil sectors, such as Dr. Nike Okundaye and Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka.
Furthermore, Steinmeier will explore the dynamic growth of Lagos, focusing on its development trends while addressing social and environmental challenges to enhance the partnership between Germany and Nigeria.
