The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, recently shared significant news.
He revealed that his governance has effectively removed bandits from the Isuikwuato and Umunnochi local government areas.
Before his administration took charge, these regions were reportedly dominated by criminal activities.
Furthermore, he noted that over N40 billion has been allocated to clear salary and pension arrears.
During a celebration marking two years in office at Umuahia Township Stadium on Thursday, Otti highlighted that many residents had been compelled to abandon their homes due to the violence, while those living in urban areas were reluctant to return.
Reflecting on the successes of his tenure, Otti explained that the Operation Crush security initiative he initiated has successfully driven out bandits from these localities, thus restoring safety for the community.
He acknowledged the contributions of the Nigerian Army, police, and other security forces in bolstering safety in Abia State, assuring continuous logistical support for these agencies.
Expressing gratitude to the citizens for their backing, Otti also celebrated the transformation of Abia from being recognized as one of the least clean states in Nigeria to a more hygienic environment, encouraging residents to sustain this newfound cleanliness.
Additionally, he announced that several projects under his administration will be inaugurated for public use starting June 2025.
