Incident of Assault on a Police Officer Leads to Arrest

A 47-year-old cobbler from Ajah, Oluwaseun Jacobs, has been taken into custody.

He has been charged with assault, causing bodily harm, and behavior likely to disturb the peace.

The arrest stems from a serious assault on a police officer in Lagos State on June 22, 2024, at Chevron Roundabout, Lekki, Lagos State. Following his arraignment, Jacobs was remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, and the case was adjourned to July 8, 2024, for a hearing.

Providing an update on the situation, Nigerian police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated;

“The Nigeria Police Force is deeply concerned about the recent serious assault on a police officer in Lagos State on June 22, 2024, at Chevron Roundabout, Lekki, Lagos State. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has expressed disappointment over this occurrence. The perpetrator, 47-year-old Oluwaseun Jacobs, a cobbler from Ajah, has been apprehended, arraigned in court on three charges including assault causing bodily harm and behavior likely to disturb the peace. The case has been postponed to July 8, 2024, for a hearing, while the suspect is currently in custody at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre awaiting further legal procedures.
