Notorious Bandit Leaders Yield to Nigerian Army in Katsina
A group of notorious bandit leaders operating in Katsina State, specifically in the Batsari, Safana, and Jibia areas, have reportedly turned themselves in to the Nigerian Army.
According to a report from the counter-insurgency outlet Zagazola Makama, among those who surrendered are prominent figures like Abu Radda, Umar Black, Abdullahi Lankai, Jijjige, and Dabar Musa Dan Gandu, all associated with the Jibia region.
As indicated by security sources in the report, these bandits made the decision to surrender after enduring relentless military efforts in the area, leading them to accept a peace agreement.
The surrendered individuals not only relinquished their weapons to the military but also freed a number of hostages they had previously taken.
These former bandits have called upon the government to provide them with alternative means of supporting themselves, proposing that they could be involved in the development of community projects such as markets and hospitals to aid in their reintegration.
This surrender was facilitated by the National Community for Security and Societal Advancement in Katsina (NCSOSACK), an initiative led by Hamisa Batsari, which has been instrumental in the peace dialogue.
