The Nigerian Senate has declared its determination to uncover and expose individuals involved in sabotaging the nation’s petroleum sector and those accountable for importing harmful fuel into the country.

During a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, the Senate ad-hoc committee, responsible for investigating reported economic sabotage in the Nigerian Petroleum Industry, made this announcement.

At the press conference, the committee’s chairman, Opeyemi Bamidele, who also serves as the Majority Leader of the Senate, presented the committee’s statement alongside all its members.

He stated, “We are fully committed to addressing critical issues that threaten our economic growth, financial stability, and public health as a nation.”

“We will diligently uncover the causes of economic sabotage in Nigeria’s petroleum industry and propose recommendations to enhance global standards in the sector, attracting more investments, particularly in the midstream and downstream segments.

“We take our responsibility seriously and will conduct this investigation impartially and thorough, in alignment with the national interest,” he added.
