The Edo State Police Command is currently investigating the suspicious death of Fidelis Osaghae, the manager of Valchi Fast Food and Bar in Auchi.
Osaghae passed away under mysterious circumstances on July 29, 2024.
In response, his family, represented by the Akin Fadeyi Foundation (AFF), a non-governmental organization, filed a petition with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), requesting an inquiry into the events surrounding his demise.
According to the petition, Osaghae was in good health with no known medical conditions prior to his passing.
He had a video call with his wife at 1:30 a.m. before returning to work hastily after receiving a request from his superior to procure something.
The family alleged that Osaghae was discovered with unusual marks and injuries on his body, indicating possible torture before his death.
SP Joel Yamu, the spokesperson for the command, mentioned that the case has been forwarded to the State CID for further scrutiny.
He affirmed that the findings of the investigation will be disclosed upon its completion.
The police have pledged to conduct a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Osaghae’s death and ensure that the culprits face justice.
