Visit of Lagos GAC Members to President Tinubu
On January 24, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a meeting with members of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), headed by Dr. Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
The presidency announced this event through a brief post on its official X account, stating, “President Bola Tinubu receives Dr. Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, Chairman of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), and his delegation in Abuja”, accompanied by photographs from the meeting.
The GAC serves as the apex political advisory group for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.
Recently, the council supported the recent leadership shift within the Lagos State House of Assembly.
It is notable that 32 lawmakers voted to remove the previous Speaker, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, due to serious misconduct and mismanagement allegations.
Following his removal, Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda (Apapa, 1) was elected as the new Speaker.
According to Western Post, the GAC endorsed the lawmakers’ decision regarding Obasa’s removal.
Furthermore, the council expressed its support for the new leadership under Meranda.
After the assembly members met with the GAC, Meranda informed reporters that the lawmakers sought the GAC’s endorsement and were pleased with the council’s approval of the change.
Obasa was accused of several financial and procedural breaches during his tenure as Speaker.
Prior to her election as Speaker, Meranda served as the assembly’s chief whip and had also held the position of deputy speaker.
