Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 3 and Episode 4 Recap
In the previous episodes of Netflix’s Locke & Key, the Locke family moved to Keyhouse, and Bode learned how to use the magical keys from the sinister woman in the well. In Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 3, Bode found the Ghost Key, and in Locke & Key Season 1 Episode 4, Kinsey showed Scot what it’s like in her head.
Kinsey’s Fear
Bode gave Kinsey and Tyler a tour of what’s in his head, manifest in an arcade. They revisited a memory where Rendell told Bode a bedtime story about a sea monster, but they didn’t get to the end since Bode had fallen asleep. It was a story Rendell told to all the kids, but it ended differently for each of them. Kinsey took Tyler with her into her head. Her head was a shopping mall. Tyler saw what Sam’s attack was like from Kinsey’s point of view, and a monstrous version of herself attacked them. Kinsey knew it was a representation of her fear. After standing up Scot’s invitation to see a cover band, Kinsey killed her fear and buried it in the woods.
The next day, Kinsey appeared to feel better and freer. She told Tyler what she had done. After school, Kinsey invited Scot over to Keyhouse. She brought him into her head and shared her memories with him.
The Ghost Key
Another key whispered to Bode. He found the Ghost Key in a portrait of Chamberlain Locke, his great-great grandfather. The key caused Bode’s body to drop as if he were dead. Bode flew around the grounds as a ghost and ran into the ghost of Chamberlain Locke in the family cemetery. Chamberlain told Bode that Rendell and Duncan would fly around the grounds as ghosts all the time. Only Lockes who died on the grounds would become ghosts at Keyhouse. Most moved on, but Chamberlain chose to remain.
Echo returned after getting another key from a different boy and killing him. The key was a lighter, and she set fire to the kitchen. Echo took Bode with her and surrounded them in flames. Bode realized that she couldn’t take the keys from him. He had to give them to her. At this realization, Echo left and went to Sam Lesser.
Omega
Nina continued to hang out with Ellie. She had flipped through Rendell’s high school yearbook. In the middle of it were pages covered in the Omega symbol. She asked Ellie about it, but she denied remembering anything about it. She wanted to contact the others in the photo. Unfortunately, Ellie was the only one left. Nina mentioned the well to Ellie. While Bode was a ghost, he saw Ellie at the well; she called for Lucas. Bode asked Rufus about the well, but he wasn’t allowed near it. Also, Ellie told Nina about the room where they hung out in the basement. It had been boarded up.
Anglophiles
Jackie told Tyler that she was an anglophile. Tyler used the Head Key to learn everything he could about England. He threw a book about it into his mind, and he instantly knew about and recited useless facts about England. Jackie clarified that she only said that because she was obsessed with Jane Austen. Her favorite story was Sanditon, a novel left unfinished when Austen fell ill and died. At the library, Jackie ran into Tyler, who was checking the book out.
