Suspected Cable Vandal Electrocuted Inside FAAN Powerhouse At Lagos Airport

A man suspected of vandalizing cables was electrocuted inside the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) powerhouse at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

The suspect was reportedly attempting to steal electrical cables and equipment from the FAAN powerhouse when he was electrocuted by the cables.

The middle-aged individual managed to gain access to the power-generating building and started disconnecting installations that provided power to the Lagos Airport before meeting his demise.

FAAN’s managing director, Olubunmi Kuku, assured that efforts were being made to prevent unauthorized access to airport facilities.

Kuku, speaking at the ceremony for the commissioning of 30 Special Forces for airport security, highlighted incidents of vandals breaching airport perimeter fences to steal lighting equipment or cause harm to workers.

He stated, “We do have individuals attempting to steal our airfield lighting equipment or potentially harm our staff. We had an incident where an individual entered our powerhouse and was electrocuted.”
