Meeting Between ASUU and FG Postponed until September 8

ASUU FG Meeting Adjourned Till September 8 (via Primetweets)

The meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been adjourned until September 8. The announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, following a meeting with the union leadership at the Federal Ministry of Education.

A subsequent meeting is scheduled for September 6, 2024, with both parties discussing various issues. The ASUU threatened a nationwide strike due to the government’s failure to fulfill the 2009 renegotiated agreement, which was decided during the union’s national executive council meeting at the University of Ibadan on August 19, 2024.

ASUU’s demands focus on improving welfare and university funding, as well as addressing the widespread establishment of universities across the country.
