Nigerian military forces have captured Mallam Abubakar Adamu, linked to an abandoned vehicle containing weapons in Taraba State.
This was announced by Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Assistant Director of the 6 Brigade, Army Public Relations.
The owner was taken into custody on Sunday together with an accomplice in the Wukari local government area, as stated in a press release distributed to news outlets on Tuesday.
“As part of an operation that followed the recent discovery of an AK-47 rifle and a vehicle in Bantaje town, the 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) conducted a follow-up operation leading to the arrests on September 8, 2024,” he reported.
Captain Olubodunde further shared that through comprehensive investigations and intelligence efforts, they tracked and detained Mallam Abubakar Adamu, who is suspected of being involved in local criminal activities.
During questioning, Adamu admitted to sending the driver, who remains unapprehended, to transport the weapon from Doruwa village to Wukari.
Additionally, he mentioned that Abubakar was arrested in Mutum Biyu, found with two mobile phones, alongside another accomplice, Mallam Isah Ibrahim.
“Both suspects are in custody and are being interrogated further to uncover their roles in various criminal activities and to locate the wanted driver,” added Olubodunde.
Pleased with the operation’s success, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa commended the troops for their dedication to preserving peace and security in Taraba and surrounding areas.
