Mother of Four Arrested for Handling Stolen Funds
A 23-year-old woman named Ella Samuel was taken into custody by the Edo State Police.
She is accused of accepting stolen money from her partner, who leads an armed robbery group.
This gang has been involved in violent assaults in the Amagba community and other parts of Benin City, committing heinous acts against women.
In a separate incident, they reportedly stole an ATM card, demanded the owner’s PIN at gunpoint, and transferred N460,000 to an account linked to Samuel.
Authorities traced the funds to her bank account, leading to her arrest at a hotel in Delta State, while her partner escaped capture.
Investigation revealed that Samuel has four children, each fathered by different men who are wanted by the police.
In her statement to the press, Samuel mentioned her arrest occurred after her boyfriend deposited the stolen money into her account.
The police’s spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the robbery gang.
