The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended Agbakoba John Mmadu and Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe, a Nigerian duo supposedly leading a prominent cocaine ring in Lagos. The arrests also included their accomplice, Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane, after a successful operation where substantial quantities of cocaine intended for export and distribution were seized.

On Sunday, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, disclosed that after extensive intelligence work and surveillance, a crackdown was carried out on a well-known drug trafficking network.

This syndicate is involved in the packaging, circulation, and transportation of cocaine within Nigeria and internationally.

Babafemi stated, “The 54-year-old Agbakoba John Mmadu was apprehended at Ago Palace Way, Okota, while his 39-year-old wife, Agbakoba Ijeoma Chinwe, and their associate, 31-year-old Okoye Ifeoma Maryjane, who also acted as their stash custodian, were captured at Plot 2205 Eugene Ndubisi Close, Lilly Estate, Amuwo Odofin district of Lagos, all on Wednesday, 3rd July 2024.”

“Mmadu was found with seven parcels of cocaine weighing 7.652 kilograms at Ago Palace Way, whereas Ijeoma and Ifeoma had over one hundred and twenty-two compressed pellets of the same drug, totaling 2.42kg, at Lilly Estate. The combined seizure amounted to 10.1 kilograms valued at over N2.1 billion in street worth.”
