Since Disney Plus joined the ranks of big-name streaming services on Nov. 12, 2019, people have been debating which service is better—Disney Plus or Netflix? There are a plethora of movies and television shows to stream on both, so why is Disney Plus the winner? Let’s take a look at the three main reasons fans could careless that Netflix is sweeping the Golden Globe nominations.
Disney Plus has everything Marvel and Star Wars fanatics could ever want
Disney Plus took back their Marvel and Star Wars rights from Netflix and then proceeded to blow fans’ minds with the amount of original new shows coming their way.
Unless you are living under a rock, you have likely seen a baby Yoda meme or reference lately, but might not have known what it was referencing. That is due to the new series, The Mandalorian on Disney Plus, which is all the talk right now.
Of course, Disney Plus will give you almost every single Star Wars movie ever made. The only three missing right now—The Last Jedi, Rogue One, and Solo—will be available in 2020. Fans will also enjoy a new Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor as well as season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2020. Fanatics will also have access to every season of Star Wars Rebels and seasons 1-6 of The Clone Wars.
Disney Plus did not forget Marvel fans; they have original shows coming their way, too. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier launches in fall 2020. There is also a Loki show and a Hawkeye show in the works for 2021. Until then, fans can stream nearly every Marvel movie ever created as well, including Avengers: End Game. Disney Plus insists that anything not available currently is coming in 2020.
Disney Plus is cheaper than Netflix and allows you to connect to more devices
The first question nearly everyone asks is, “How much does Disney Plus cost?” You will be pleased to know that it is half the price of it’s Netflix equivalent. Disney Plus is only $6.99 monthly or $69.99 per year ($5.83/month). Netflix does have a basic streaming plan that costs $8.99 monthly, but it has minimal features.
Most users do not choose the basic streaming plan from Netflix because you can only use it on a single screen. Disney Plus allows one account to stream to 10 devices for one low price. Netflix cannot compare to this. The standard streaming plan from Netflix is $12.99 but only gives you two streaming devices and high definition.
The premium Netflix plan is well over double the price of Disney plus at $15.99, and still only gives users the option to stream to four devices. Disney Plus is the clear winner in terms of price and device accessibility.
The wide range of Disney classics, Pixar films and new shows coming soon on Disney Plus will blow your mind
For families with kids, Disney Plus is the easy choice over Netflix. You can show your kids all of your favorite classic movies with the touch of a button. Parents no longer have to worry about their kids losing or scratching that DVD. Plus, every child can stream something different on their device—goodbye fights over what to watch.
Pixar movies available include Toy Story and Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles. Newer films like The Incredibles 2 are on the way. There are also numerous shorts including several surrounding Forky—titled Forky Asks a Question—who is a fan-favorite from Toy Story 4 for both children and adults.
With the array of Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and classic Disney, its no wonder that Disney Plus is the favorite over Netflix. The cheaper price point and ability to stream to more devices make the streaming service a home run. Move over Netflix, Disney Plus is here to stay.
