Niger State Attack Leaves 8 Dead, Including Army Major

An ambush by bandits in Igu village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State has resulted in the death of a Major from the Nigerian Army and seven other security operatives. According to Inuwa Danladi, a resident of Igu, the ambush occurred after a gun battle between security personnel and the bandits. The bandits were attempting to bury casualties from their earlier exchange with the security operatives when they noticed the personnel were coming to recover the bodies of vigilantes and attacked them. Two patrol vehicles belonging to the Joint Security Taskforce were also damaged during the attack, with their windscreens and tires ridden with bullets.
