Authorities recently arrested eight suspected stowaways and rescued eight female victims of human trafficking in Nigerian waterways. The Director of Naval Information, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, reported that a sea robbery attempt was thwarted along the Uyenghe River in Mbo Local Government Area.
In another incident, the Navy intercepted sea robbers trying to attack a supply vessel, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Additionally, two drowning fishermen were rescued near Lekki Anchorage Area in Lagos State.
Adams-Aliu emphasized the Navy’s commitment to ensuring safety and security in Nigerian waters under the leadership of Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, urging illegal activities to cease.
