Nigerian Woman’s Views on Gender Roles: Men Should Provide, Women Should Care for Home

Nigerian feminist Uloma recently responded to a tweet from @juscallmeorgans, who asked what women should do if their husband is unable to pay rent. Uloma stated that it is a man’s duty to provide for the family and the woman’s duty to take care of the home. She further asserted that when a woman helps a man financially, she is stripping him of his manhood. When another tweep asked where Uloma would sleep, she answered that she would find a man who can pay rent, marry him, and make his home. She concluded that any man who is not capable of providing does not deserve a home.
