A 27-year-old named Mika’ilu Abubakar was taken into custody by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly assaulting an 8-year-old girl in the Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
According to ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, the command’s public relations officer, the arrest was prompted by a report from the victim’s brother at the NSCDC office in Kiyawa on October 7, 2024.
“On October 7, 2024, at about 3:00 PM, Mika’ilu Abubakar from Unguwar Yan Koli Zakirai Village was apprehended by NSCDC operatives due to allegations of r@pe involving an eight-year-old girl from the same village,” the statement reported.
“The arrest followed a complaint filed by the victim’s eldest brother, who indicated that his sister had been assaulted. He arrived home from work and inquired about her, only to learn she had gone to Mika’ilu’s place. When she returned home in tears, she explained that he had violated her,” it detailed.
“The victim mentioned that Mika’ilu had taken her handbag, leading her to his house to retrieve it. Once there, he locked the door and assaulted her, having ulterior motives unbeknownst to her. When questioned about her presence in his home, she recounted this account,” the statement continued.
“Although the suspect denied the act of r@pe, he admitted to rubbing his manhood against her private area to relieve sexual tension.”
“Medical evaluations at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Dutse General Hospital indicated multiple penetrations, a broken hymen, and bruising in the vaginal area.”
“After the investigation, the suspect will face charges in a competent court,” it concluded.
