A Farmer Sentenced for Theft
A 23-year-old farmer named Godwin Onah has received a one-year prison sentence from a Chief Magistrates Court in Odigbo, Ondo State, due to the theft of a mobile phone.
During the proceedings, Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu found Onah guilty after he admitted to charges of theft and willful damage.
Prosecutor Inspector Usifoh James explained that Onah had stolen and intentionally damaged a Tecno Spark 8 phone, valued at N150,000, which belonged to James Femi.
This act breached Section 390 (9) and 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Inspector Usifoh stated that the evidence was compelling, highlighting the defendant’s clear admission of guilt.
As a result, the Chief Magistrate issued a one-year sentence for each count, to be served concurrently.
